Learn to say No without explaining yourself

Learn to say No without explaining yourself

We often say yes try to help others. Which in my opinion creates “stray cat syndrome”. Help someone once and most of the time they will come back to you to help solve other issues. Just point them in the direction where they can do the work to solve their own problems. Too many look for others to help because that’s the easy way out and want a quick fix. ~ Belinda Whitaker

I experienced taking on another family’s stress, problems etc that affected my own health to find that a few months later that we are no longer “useful” as have not seen or heard from these people in months. Nothing quite like feeling you were used as a convenience. New boundaries now in place for all. ~ Beth McElhinney

Learning to say no is not being mean. This is a common misconception that most have and that’s why they have a problem with saying no. You can still say no and point them in the right direction. If they really want help and you’ve give good advice they will take it. And now that cuts out you explaining why you said no that you can’t help but you’ve pointed them in the right direction. ~ Belinda Whitaker
